Quickie Pizza

2 cups flour
1 tbsp. baking powder
3 tbsp. sugar
2/3 cup milk
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 tbsp. basil
¼ tsp. thyme
1 cup shredded cheese*
Spaghetti or pizza sauce
1 package hot dogs, sausages, frankfurters, etc.

Preheat oven to 400°F/200°C/Gas 6. Grease pizza ban or baking sheet.

Stir flour, baking powder, sugar, basil, and thyme in a large bowl. Add milk and oil. Knead into a nice, round, smooth ball.

Flatten ball into the shape of the pan (round, rectangular, or square). Use rolling pin if you have one, else push dough into shape with your hands. Be sure not to tear dough, as this will make it will tend to come apart during baking.

Prepare toppings while dough rises: chop hot dogs, grate cheese, drain olives or pineapple, etc. When toppings are prepared, spoon pizza (or spaghetti) sauce onto dough. Spread a thin layer of dough to within an inch of the edge. Layer toppings, adding cheese last. Sprinkle on a tablespoon or two of extra sauce.

Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until done. Cheese should be bubbly but not too brown. Crust bottom should be lightly brown.

*If you do not have fresh cheese, you can always substitute parmesian cheese or even use that cheese dust that comes in boxes of macaroni & cheese. Stir some of the dry cheese in the sauce before putting it on the pizza, then sprinkle some on the sauce, then also dust the toppings between each layer.
