Dogs in Blankets
3 cups flour
1½ tbsp. baking powder
3 tbsp. sugar
1 cup milk
1 egg
¼ cup vegetable oil
1 package hot dogs, sausages, frankfurters, etc.
Preheat oven to 400°F/200°C/Gas 6. Grease large cookie or baking sheet.
Stir flour, baking powder, and sugar in a large bowl. Add milk, egg, and oil. Knead into a nice, round, smooth ball.
Divide dough into eight or ten equal-sized balls (depending on the number of hot dogs). Flatten dough balls, one by one, and wrap around hot dogs, completely wrapping each dog.
Place wrapped dogs on baking sheet, leaving a little space between each one. Bake for 10 minutes, then turn dogs over and bake 5 to 10 minutes longer. Garnish with ketchup, mustard, barbecue sauce, cheese, or whatever.
Cheese Dogs in Blankets: Wrap each dog with a piece of cheese before wrapping in dough. Or, use commercial cheese dogs.
